This Month In Beauty

When we speak of beauty, luxurious images rush to the mind, weekends spent at an exotic spa, quality time at the family salon, girl’s night spent raiding fashion magazines for the ‘it’ products. Each month the beauty enthusiasts begin their search for new trends, and trending products that they can add to their kitty. This month we bring you trends that have stood the test of time, some feel-good vegan beauty products, and for the brides-to-be, some trusted bridal make-up trends and home remedies to follow.

It’s no surprise that a food-based diet does wonders for your skin, hair and overall well-being, this extends to plant-based beauty products as well. Vegan and sustainable products are not tested on animals, hence they not only make you look good but also help you feel good. We’ve listed down a few crowd favourites.

Rustic Art

All the way from India, the roots of the brand lie in the rustic art of Indian naturopathy. The brand’s motto is to use products that are in harmony with nature and harnesses the power of natural ingredients to bring you products that work! On their website, they have a variety of body, hair, baby, bath and home products that are 100% natural. We adore their aloe-vera based gels and their organic soap range.  A bonus? They even sell menstrual cups. This way the brand gives back to nature by promoting plastic-free menstrual products.

Lush

Lush is at the forefront when it comes to the fight for sustainability. They have been campaigning for cruelty-free products for long as we can remember. They outdid themselves when they opened their zero-waste stores in UK, Milan and Berlin which feature ‘naked products’ these are products that are sold without packaging. Think solid shampoo bars, lotion sticks and much more. Lush as the name suggests is indulging in high-quality products with a clean conscious.

The Body Shop

This brand is worth a mention for two reasons –  It is no longer associated with L’Oreal and hence is completely cruelty-free, in all parts of the world. It has invested in a recycling project in Bengaluru, through which they create their packaging while supporting the trash picking community in India, which relies on collecting and selling plastic waste for a living.

Moving on to fashion news:

Whether you follow beauty or not, some news makes it to your feed one way or the other. Unless you have been living under a rock, we are sure you have heard of the much talked about KKW Beauty’s (Kim Kardashian West) bridal makeup range inspired by her own wedding look, named Mrs. West collection. The range has six matte and shimmer eye shows in neutral tones, crème lipsticks and much more. The range will be available 24th May onwards, visit the website to be the first few to add these coveted products to your kitty.

Speaking of brides and bridal ranges, here are a few bridal make-up trends worth trying.

The Natural Look

Following in the footsteps of Mrs.West, the natural look is definitely catching ground in the bridal beauty circuit. It’s perfect for someone who likes subdued looks which enhances their natural features without being in-your-face. The trick is to make the skin look glossy and flawless while keeping the eyes and lips neutral yet lush.

Fresh as Dew

This is essentially the ‘Natural Look’ amped up! The look focuses on making the face look dewy with soft eyes and matte lips in muted tones. It isn’t as bare as the natural look and is perfect for someone looking for a hint of colour while staying as close to their natural look as possible.

Bold and Beautiful

This look is for the brides that do not believe in holding back. It’s an all-out glam look that goes beautifully with OTT ornate wedding ensembles. In this look, attention is drawn towards the eyes by drawing extended lines on the lids, both top, and the bottom. Smoky eyes and a dark lip seals the deal.

Next up are 1 minute home remedies to achieve a bridal glow that every DIY dreams of!

Tomato & Honey

This fix is so easy, it literally takes a minute of prep time. Don’t believe us? Time yourself! All you have to do is cut open a tomato, add a teaspoon of honey to the cut half and then rub it all over your face until the juices from the tomato and the honey are well socked into your skin. Let it rest for 20 -30 mins and rinse with lukewarm water.  Honey has anti-inflammatory and restoring properties, while the tomatoes work on the scars, tightens the pores and soothing pimples. It even helps reduce sunburn. Talk about a winner of a recipe!

Aloe Vera Gel

Another one for the one-minuters! It does not get simpler than this. It’s one ingredient and one step, alright, a two steps remedy. First, cut open an aloe-vera, scrap the surface to release a bit of the gel and rub it all over your face. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes and rinse with cold water! That’s it, your work is done. Aloe Vera treats acne, open pores, inflammation, and helps smoothen the complexion. If you have oily skin, this is your fix!

We finish off with the two “out there” makeup looks that have been trending for more than two season

Bold Eyeliner

Sure you can stick to the classic cat-eye, but let’s admit it, it’s more fun to go freestyle! A popular trend this season is to line your eyes however you like. There simply are no rules,  no start or end point. Metallic and neon hues work well with this trend. Seal the deal with a stark lip.

Coloured Lashes

Forget black, this season, yellow, orange, pastel and metallic lashes are in! This trend is out there, only a few tend to venture. Given the results, it’s well worth a try! Coloured lashes are a fun way to infuse colour into any outfit.
